Yifei Zhang, School of Pharmacy graduate student, has been awarded a two-year $46,000 pre-doctoral fellowship award from the American Heart Association for “Novel Polymeric Vectors for Pulmonary uPA Gene Therapy.” The goal of Zhang’s research is the development of a nonviral uPA gene therapy to enhance the fibrinolytic activity in the lung, which would be beneficial not only for the early-stage lung injury but also for the late-stage lung fibrosis. She is a second-year graduate student in Dr. Song Li’s lab.
