PittPharmacy_PaulJohnston_06.2014_0019PittPharmacy faculty member Paul A. Johnston, PhD was awarded a grant funded by NIH under the UPCI’s SPORE in Melanoma and Skin Cancer. The project title is Identifying Synergy between APE1 DNA Repair Inhibitors and Approved Melanoma Cancer Drugs.

The data generated from this study will provide insights into the potential (i) use of APE1 inhibitors in combination therapy depending on tumor phnotype and (ii) pathways that can be targeted to develop more effective mechanism-based therapies for melanoma.

Johnston is a research associate professor in the pharmaceutical sciences department at the School of Pharmacy.
