120 Pitt Pharmacy students
81 Pennsylvania legislator visits
Advocating for patients

Over 120 individuals from PittPharmacy, including the entire class of 2019, traveled to Harrisburg to participate in Pennsylvania Pharmacist Association’s (PPA) Pharmacy Legislative Day on April 19, 2017.  The theme for the day was  “Putting Patients First.”

Students hosted informational tables, provided health screenings, and met with Pennsylvania’s representatives and senators to discuss issues that affect student pharmacists, pharmacists, and the patients they serve.

PPA’s legislative agenda includes 1) opposition to the proposed cuts to pharmacy Medicaid reimbursement; 2) opposition to the proposed cuts to pharmacy PACE reimbursement; 3) support for expanding pharmacist-provided immunization opportunities; 4) support for medication synchronization; and 5) support for pharmacy technician registration.
