Joshua Niznik, PharmD ’15  was selected to be a postdoctoral scholar as part of a training grant in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine, Geriatric Division. The fellowship is two-year commitment, awarded to trainees of the health sciences with enthusiastic commitment, knowledge, and skills to succeed in a career in clinical and translational aging research. Niznik’s mentoring team will consist of Carolyn Thorpe, PhD, MPH,  Joshua Thorpe, PhD, MPH, and Joseph Hanlon, PharmD, MS.

Niznik was a trainee in the Division of Geriatric Medicine, summer 2016.  In his previous work, Niznik and his advisor, Carolyn Thorpe used Medicare Nursing Home data to study the use of potentially inappropriate anticholinergic medications in nursing home residents. The findings of this research were presented at the Academy Health Annual Research Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, June 2017.

Niznik is a PhD student in the Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Research track at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.
