PittPharmacy student Danielle Nichols (Class of 2019) was the only pharmacy intern selected to present her summer continuous improvement project at Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. annual meeting in Rochester, New York, August 2017. Wegmans store operations and pharmacy interns are required to develop and implement a continuous improvement project. Nichols completed her project titled, “Simplifying the Pharmacy Ordering Process,” and initially presented her results at Fairfax, Virginia in early August. As a result, from this initial presentation, Nichols was chosen to present her project for a second time at the annual meeting to the Wegman Family and a panel of 40 corporate team members. Her presentation was chosen out of 44 presentations company-wide, and she was the first intern ever chosen from the Virginia division to present at this annual meeting. She presented alongside two other store operations interns from the New Jersey and Rochester divisions.

Nichols will continue her work and research on this project throughout the next year in the CLIP ARCO (Community Leadership, Innovation, and Practice Area of Concentration).

Lucas A. Berenbrok, PharmD and Melissa A. Somma McGivney, PharmD, FCCP, FAPhA are Nichols’ faculty advisors.
