PhD candidate Katherine Eichinger, MS, PharmD was recently selected as a Clinical and Translational Science (CTS) Post-Doctoral Fellow through the Institute for Clinical Research Education, which is a part of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. Her fellowship will begin October 2018 and will provide support for multidisciplinary clinical and translational research for a minimum of one year. Her multidisciplinary team of advisers will provide critical mentorship aimed at improving the clinical translation of scientific discoveries. Assistant Professor Kerry Empey, PharmD, PhD is Eichinger’s faculty advisor.

Alexander J. Prokopienko PharmD, was selected to receive an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The objective of the AFPE Fellowship is to support clinical pharmaceutical scientist development. The project will be conducted under the mentorship of his primary advisor Associate Professor Thomas D. Nolin, PharmD, PhD. The long-term goal of this research is to evaluate novel strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease in patients. Prokopienko is a fifth year PittPharmacy graduate student in the Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences track. His clinical and translational research focuses on improving the health of patients with kidney disease and exploring the impacts of the gut microbiome.
