Faculty members Brian Potoski, PharmD, BCPS, Associate Director of the UPMC Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, and Associate Professor Bonnie Falcione, PharmD, BCPS (AQ-ID) received accolades in May 2018 when the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) designated the UPMC Presbyterian campus as a Center of Excellence for Antimicrobial Stewardship. The IDSA created the designation as a means of recognizing those stewardship programs that promote excellence in optimizing antimicrobial use and combating antimicrobial resistance.

Falcione and Potoski have each provided over a decade of clinical service to the UPMC Presbyterian campus Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.
