PittPharmacy’s Assistant Professor Kerry Empey, PharmD, PhD, Lead Innovator Advisor Ravi Patel, PharmD, along with Associate Dean for Research, Swanson School of Engineering David Vorp, PhD and John P. Donehoo, RPh, Clinical Pharmacist, UPMC, received a Pitt Seed Grant for their project entitled: “Pitt Participation in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.”

Through this seed project the School of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the School of Engineering, will generate opportunities for students to design micro-gravity experiments and compete at the local and national level to have their experiments conducted on the International Space Station.

The students will benefit through collaborative team building, development of innovative ideas and experiments, and through combining science, technology, engineering, and math concepts to test hypothesis-driven questions within the constraints of a flight certified micro-gravity mini-laboratory.
