Herbster, Mansour and Tyger collaborated to present their poster entitled Implementation of the University of Pittsburgh American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) Student Chapter Fidget Blanket Project which detailed the Pitt ASCP student chapter’s work over the school year. The Fidget Blanket Project was implemented to create blankets with sensory stimulating elements such as buckles, zippers, and buttons, which were then donated to Asbury Heights Nursing Home. Studies have shown that tactile stimulation with tools such as fidget blankets can be an effective non-pharmacologic method to reduce and alleviate behavioral disturbances associated with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia.Other contributing authors on the chapter activity poster included recent Pitt Pharmacy graduates Kristel Chatellier and Amanda Schwenk.

All three poster abstracts were published in ASCP’s peer-reviewed journal, The Senior Care Pharmacist.
