Wen Xie, PhD, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, received a minority supplement of $83,582 from the National Institutes of Health for his project “Regulation of Sulfotransferases by LXR and Its Implication in Pathophysiology.” This funding to the master award will support Mr. Chibueze Ihunnah, a first-year graduate student. Ihunnah will be exposed to a variety of career options within biomedical sciences, including molecular biology, creation and use of transgenic mice, and incorporation of human disease models into transgenic mice.
