PittPharmacy Associate Professor Jim Coons, PharmD, FCCP, BCCP was awarded a grant from the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Precision Medicine for his proposal, “Whole Genome Sequencing to Explore Variability in Treprostinil Response in Patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH).” The grant is part of the Precision Medicine Pilot Award Program through the Institute for Precision Medicine and the UPMC Genome Center. The study will use whole genome sequencing to explore potential genetic associations in treatment response in patients with PAH who receive oral treprostinil.

This research will be conducted as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes other PittPharmacy PGx Center of Excellence faculty who are leading the first translational pharmacogenomics program at UPMC (PreCISE-Rx), and the UPMC Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Program.
