The 11th Annual Health Fair by PittPharmacy’s P1 class was successfully held “virtually” on Friday, April 17, 2020. Members of the Class of 2023 researched and presented health topics from Blood Disorders to Mental Health/ Stress Management to many attendees. Faculty, staff, and guests of Pitt traveled in and out of the virtual rooms to interact with the student groups. Students were also able to move in and out of the rooms to learn from each other. Comments below tell the story:

I learned something new and so did the students! They were well-prepared and responded thoughtfully to questions. The individuals in the group that focused on childhood immunizations were able to take what they learned and easily apply it to questions about the possible implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on vaccine hesitancy rates and other public health considerations.

Susan Meyer (Associate Dean for Education PittPharmacy)

It’s really good to know that we live in a time where technology like this has enabled us to be flexible, so that we can still participate in these activities while staying safe. It is also great to know that we are part of an institution that values our experience enough to put in the time and take advantage of that technology.

Madeline Dillen (PharmDStudent Class of 2023)

I thoroughly enjoyed the health fair today and the students did an excellent job! The students were friendly, knew their research topic and either answered my questions, looked it up or offered to get back to me if they weren’t sure of the answer. Afterward, I told them as a pharmacist they will have tough questions so the fact that they were willing to help made me feel these students will be great pharmacists!

Dolly Hornick (Staff Member PittPharmacy)

My team was incredibly flexible with converting our poster and presentation content to a virtual-friendly format. We found ways to collaborate despite not meeting in person, which I believe shows the resiliency of students at PittPharmacy! I am very proud of what we accomplished and am thankful for my amazing group of classmates!

Erin Schorr (PharmD Student Class of 2023)

Great students! Extremely well done! Very proud of our folks!

Paul Schiff (Professor Emeritus PittPharmacy)
