Jan H. Beumer neaar Pitt Seal

PittPharmacy Professor Jan H. Beumer, PharmD, PhD, DABT and his group were awarded a 6-year U24 grant, funding the PITT-CAL consortium, one of two consortia in the nation.

PITT-CAL combines the bioanalytical capacity of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s Cancer Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Facility led by Beumer with that of the City of Hope’s Analytical Pharmacology Core Facility, led by Dr. Tim Synold. In addition, metabolism expertise is provided by Raman Venkataramanan, PhD from PittPharmacy and POP-PK support provided by Dr. Joga Gobburu from the University of Maryland. PITT-CAL will support the NCI early clinical trial efforts through the NCI Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN).

In addition, Beumer was awarded a 6-year UM1 grant, funding the “NCI ETCTN Pittsburgh Cancer Consortium. One of 8 consortia in the nation, the PCC will design, and conduct early phase clinical trials with cancer drugs in the NCI CTEP portfolio, and as such function as a critical component of the NCI early clinical trial efforts through the NCI Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN).
