Katherine Eichinger, PharmD, PhD a PittPharmacy fellow, received a 2 year renewal of her Loan Repayment award for Pediatric Research through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease division of the NIH. The program was designed to help retain clinical and translational researchers in academic and non-profit research careers by reducing their student loan burden.

Results detailing outcomes from pre-clinical RSV vaccine studies from the lab of Kerry M. Empey, PharmD, PhD, were published in Frontiers in Immunology. As first author, Eichinger described the safety and efficacy of RSV vaccine candidates being developed as maternal RSV vaccines. The work was funded by a SBIR grant and and the Empey lab is currently working with two biotechnology companies to develop maternal RSV vaccine candidates for future commercialization.
