Anna Schmotzer

Anna Schmotzer was named co-advisor of the RxPrep student organization during the 2020-2021 school year, along with Dr. Sharon Corey, Associate Dean of Students. Schmotzer has been assisting with recruitment efforts for the School of Pharmacy as member of the RxTalent Team for about 5 years. She has contributed her knowledge about the shadowing experiences available to high school and PharmD students by utilizing clinical faculty at UPMC Presbyterian and Children’s Hospital, Allegheny Health Network, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The RxTalent Team developed a streamlined approach, offering shadowing experiences for a small number of high school and pre-pharmacy students through the RxPrep student organization. Prior to the streamlined approach, Schmotzer was able to secure approximately 40-50 shadowing experiences for students with faculty members.

Schmotzer’s involvement with the recruitment efforts for the School of Pharmacy has given her the opportunity to work with RxPrep presidents, faculty, and staff to conduct the RxPrep Early Immersion Tour Day and the Coalition of Pre-Health Students (CPHS) Summit. The Early Immersion Tour Day offers participants an overview of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. During the 2020-2021 academic year, over fifty participants attended the virtual sessions. The Pre-Health Summit is an opportunity for pre-health students to learn, collaborate, and network for the future.

Each year in August, Schmotzer works with the RxPrep President and representatives to go over logistics for upcoming events for the organization. In addition to this role, Schmotzer is currently the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning for the School of Pharmacy.
