Pitt Pharmacy’s APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter has done it again! They were selected as a regional winner of Operation Heart for 2020-2021, marking the second year in a row the chapter was chosen as an award recipient.
Operation Heart is a national patient care project, first launched in 2010. The program provides student pharmacists with the opportunity to educate their communities, promoting heart health and spreading awareness about cardiovascular disease. APhA notes that participating in Operation Heart allows student pharmacists to “…encourage lifestyle modifications, monitor associated risk factors, and provide education about medications for heart disease” within their communities.
The Pitt Pharmacy chapter will be presented the award at this years’ Annual Meeting, happening in San Antonio, March 18-21. The occasion will recognize the continued ways that the Pitt chapter of APhA-ASP serves patients, impacts the community, and represents the profession of pharmacy.
