Pitt Pharmacy students have placed second among schools of pharmacy in residency match rate after the first round of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program. One student matched to a currently unaccredited program. The ranking is representative of stats for the PGY1, or first post-graduate year residency programs. According to the ASHP website, “The Match provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain positions in residency programs of their choice, and to help programs obtain applicants of their choice.”

92.6% percent of PharmD students from Pitt Pharmacy who participated in the process were matched with a residency program. The match occurs in two phases to ensure that programs and potential candidates find the best fit for their needs. We will share the final results from the 2022 residency match after the conclusion of the second round.
