Third year pharmacy students Beth Corry, Megan Hutar, and Katie McGraw competed in the 2022 American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP) Clinical Research Challenge under the guidance of Dr. Christine Ruby Scelsi, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP, FASCP and Dr. Amy C. Donihi, PharmD, BCPS, BC-ADM, FCCP. The group of students won the local competition hosted by the University of Pittsburgh chapter of SCCP, which allowed them to move on to the national competition. The first two rounds consisted of an online journal club entry and a letter of intent submission.

The team was one of the top 20 scoring teams from a field of over 80 schools advancing to the final round.

In the final round, the team designed a research proposal that aimed to increase the rate of HPV vaccination in communities on the U.S. side of the U.S. Mexico border, through a pharmacist-led school-based vaccination service. The submission was chosen as a top 8 finalist in the country and received positive feedback from the CRC review panel.
