School of Pharmacy faculty member Raman Venkataramanan presented at the 14th International Conference on Malignancies in AIDS and Other Acquired Immunodeficiencies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Campus, Bethesda, Maryland on November 13, 2013. The title of Venkataramanan’s presentation was Studies in Primary cultures of Human Hepatocytes and Computer Simulations Provide Guidance for Dosing Anticancer Drugs in Patients Treated with HAART drugs Meeting. The presentation covered approaches that can be utilized and have been utilized to predict magnitude of changes in anticancer drug exposure in patients on HAART drugs, and provided some guidance to clinical trials of anticancer drug dosing in patients on HAART drugs. The audience included investigators from NCI, several national universities, representatives from Africa, Taiwan, Italy and Canada.  

The study team includes Drs. R Venkataramanan, J Beumer, VC Pillai, I Shaik, RA Parise, SM Christner, BF Kiesel of the University of Pittsburgh and Dr. M. Rudek of Johns Hopkins University  The study was funded by NCI.

Raman Venkataramanan, PhD is a professor in the pharmaceutical sciences department at the School of Pharmacy.
