Neil A. Capretto, DO, FASAM was the guest lecturer for the School of Pharmacy Nicholas C. Tucci Lecture Series held on January 29, 2014 in Scaife Hall Lecture Room. Capretto is the medical director at Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Aliquippa, PA.
In his lecture, titled Drug Trends in Our Community, Capretto talked about the increasing prevalence of substance abuse in Allegheny County. He also spoke about his experience with adolescents and adults suffering from addiction and the impact pharmacists can have in this setting.
Capretto is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry and is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Capretto is a member of the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Society of Addiction Medicine and serves on the Allegheny County Overdose Prevention Coalition Executive Committee. In addition, he is a professional advisory committee member for Al-Anon World Services Outreach. In 2012, Capretto was named Psychiatrist of the Year by the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
