Keito Hoshitsuki (Class of 2017) has accepted a 2015 summer internship with the  Pediatric Oncology Education (POE) Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Hoshitsuki will be working in the laboratory of faculty mentor Jun J. Yang, PhD in the department of pharmaceutical sciences. He will be studying and conducting research on the pharmacogenomics of pediatric leukemia.

The goal of this pre-doctoral program is to encourage students to pursue a career in cancer research either as a laboratory-based scientist or clinician. Trainees attend lecturers and conferences to supplement their research training. St Jude Children’s Research Hospital offers an internationally renowned academic environment that provides interaction between clinicians, basic scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and other trainees.

Hoshitsuki is under the mentorship of  PittPharmacy faculty member Samuel M. Poloyac, PharmD, PhD.
