Pitt Pharmacy graduate student Harini Venkata Krishnan is one of four winners in the 2015 Global Academic Competition for Life Science Leaders of Tomorrow. This competition was held by Catalent Applied Drug Delivery Institute and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. The competition identifies emerging scientific talent and rewards academic excellence.
“Our goal, for the competition, and for the Institute itself, is to foster education, collaboration and adoption of innovative drug delivery technologies to develop better treatments for patients,” commented Sharon Johnson, Catalent’s Senior VP, Quality, Product Development & Regulatory Affairs. “The standard of entries in this year’s competition was exceptional. We congratulate all the winners and look forward to sharing their reviews with the wider drug delivery community.”
Venkata Krishnan won for her review article entitled ‘Three-dimensional cell cultures: Opportunities for Drug Discovery and Development’. Her thesis work also focuses on developing three dimensional breast cancer models for studying drug response.
Assistant Professor Shilpa Sant, PhD, in PittPharmacy’s department of pharmaceutical sciences, is Venkata Krishnan’s faculty advisor.
